Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 4 slices
Course: Breakfast, Dessert

Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices of Challah (or your bread of choice)
  • 2 large white eggs
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream (122mL)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (15g)
  • 3 tbsp dark brown sugar (45g)
  • ⅛ tsp fine salt
  • ground cinnamon to taste (I prefer ½ tsp or 2g)
  • vanilla extract to taste
  • Optional: fresh strawberries
  • Optional: powdered sugar
  • Optional: maple syrup

Method

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat (or griddle to 300℉) and coat it with butter
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, heavy cream, all purpose flour, brown sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Whisk well.
  3. Slice 4 thick pieces of Challah (or your bread of choice) and dunk each slice into the mixture for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Place each slice in the skillet or on the griddle and cook each slice until they're golden brown on both sides (1-2 minutes per side depending on the heat)
  5. Serve warm with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and maple syrup
